While returning from a trip to Canada, Fred & Glenda Hale toured the Bowling Green Plant for a third time. That's when they chose the car they wanted, a 50th Anniversary Edition. Fred and Glenda finally decided to buy their beautiful car on July 19, 2003, before they were all gone.

Their son, Steve, had become a member of Classic Glass after he got his '69 roadster in 1987. Therefore, it was just a matter of time that Fred and Glenda would join, too! They became members on 9/9/03.

I received an early Christmas present for 2003!!

While waiting for the Z16 (Z06, CE, Lemans Blue) production to restart (delays caused by the failure of the carbon fiber hood delaminating), I was able to find a Z06 Commemorative Edition that had been on order since May, 2003. The car was ordered by Chuck Hutton Chevrolet in Memphis, without Body Side Moldings (which I wanted) and without museum delivery (which I wanted). I was able to get the order changed two hours before the absolute drop dead time on November 19. The car was made 12/2/03 and transferred to the museum for prep and delivery on 12/6/03.

My family was to go with me to pick it up on Dec 13, but I had a cataract removed on Wednesday, Dec 10. The doctor would not let me leave town until a week later, so the delivery was delayed until Dec 19 ( last possible date for 2003). My son (Steve) and grandson (Jamie) accompanied me for the delivery, while my family and friends watched the live museum feed on the internet. We did not get the special factory tour due to the plant being closed until April 22, but have been promised the tour then since we are going to the 2004 C5 Birthday Bash.

We joined the caravan to tour the lights at Lake Lanier, December 20, but I hung back because I didn't have but 330 miles on the car. It now has 550 and is ready to rumble.

Now for the mods.. But wait--- then it will not be original ....Oh well!
