Ken & Marsha Cearns' 2019 Elkhart Blue Grand Sport Coupe

CORVETTES from Ken Cearns

I grew up in the late 60s early 70s in the muscle car era.  I had Mopars and Fords, but always liked Corvettes.  In my 30s and 40s I always told relatives and friends that I would own a Corvette some day.  But work and family kept pushing it farther away.  Our youngest daughter was going to graduate from college in May of 2007, so I started looking for a Corvette in January of 2007.  Finally in late February I bought a 2001 Torch Red coupe with 16,000 plus miles on it.  After attending the BASH in 2009 and seeing the new Grand Sport, I told my wife someday I will own one of those.  Love at first sight you could say.

In March 2015 I traded the 2001 for a 2011 Torch red Grand Sport coupe with 12,675 miles on it.  It was a 4 LT with the Heritage package.  We loved it and took a number of road trips with it.

I started looking for a C7 in the spring of 2019, used or new, knowing the C8 would be out a little later in the year and I knew I was not interested in the C8.  We looked at a few used and new and we wanted a Long Beach Red or White.  I did locate a few but were all out of town/state.  So we drove to Clarksville IN to look at a Sebring Orange with Kalahari interior.  On the show room floor sat this Elkhart Lake Blue GS 2LT with Kalahari interior.  We took the Orange one out for a ride with the Kalahari interior.  It looked good with the Kalahari interior.  But we decided we were not so excited with it.  The dealer asked how we liked the blue car on the floor.  So after some good negotiating and coming very close to my offer, we bought the Elkhart Lake Blue GS 2LT and headed home with it.  Looking forward to some good rides and attending Ron Fellows driving experience.
