Linda & Alan Zeppenfeld's 2006 Black Convertible

I have always been car crazy, starting out with competing in SCCA rallies and autocrosses in a Triumph TR-6.

In 1992 I started AutoZest, a collector automobile brokerage, appraisal, auto products and accessories, automobilia and automotive art business in Fairport, NY.  One of my products was Zymol wax, and that attracted a lot of Corvette owners and turned my interest toward Corvettes.

One day on the way home from being a vendor at a Batavia, NY car show, I took the highway instead of the interstate and out in the middle of nowhere I saw a flash of blue out of the corner of my eye.  I turned around and drove back to find a 1972 Targa Blue convertible in a front yard with a for sale sign on it.  It was soon sitting in my garage.

In 1993, I was a vendor at Corvette Carlisle and took the Stingray with me.  Saturday night we participated in the Main Street Parade and I have been hooked on Corvettes ever since.

Fast forward to 2015.  Linda Greer, my VetteSette co-editor, and I stopped at Buyavette and were greeted by Jan Hermstad.  We told Jan that Linda liked C3 automatics and I liked C5 standard shift, but "we were just looking".  After checking out a few of the front line cars, Jan said that he had 'the perfect car for me out back and it had just come in that morning".  Having been in car sales a few times, I was skeptical because I had used that line myself.  We went around back and there it was, a pristine 2000 Nassau Blue sport coupe with Oak interior, 48,000 miles and a clean Car-Fax.  We took off the roof, rolled down the windows, and went for a test drive.  I knew then that I had to have that car.  Unfortunately that Corvette got totaled.

In searching for a replacement, I found a 2006 C6 triple black convertible with 19,000 miles at Corvette World in Dallas.  After getting pictures, videos and an inspection sheet, I asked the sales rep to walk around the car and describe it to me in detail.  The car was perfect for us and the price was right so I had the car shipped to Marietta.

I now have a black and a blue Corvette convertible; one for go and one for show.
